For a number of years, the Council for Geoscience (CGS) has assisted in the maintenance and upgrading of the seismograph network of the Geological Survey Department of Malawi (GSDM). The CGS has over the years supplied the GSDM with various versions of their in house EARS systems for the stations in Malawi; from the first EARS prototype to the EARS alpha.

Seismograph Station Summary

A list of the four stations in the GSDM network with their respective codes and locations is given below. The stations at Malindi and Mzuzu have been designated as AfricaArray stations and will be equipped with broadband sensors in 2005.
